FFXIV Open Beta on September 1st (2010-09-27)

The Open Beta will be online continuously for 24 hours a day but at the beginning of the beta, the number of players to login is limited but will increase as the adjustments are performed on server load. So, at the first few hours, perhaps the first few days, you have to 'fight' for a chance to login.
About character transferring
You'll be able to transfer your character's name(only the name) in OB to official release if the World you choose in official release is the same as that in OB, otherwise you can't transfer and probably won't be able to create the same name in the new World.
